“The LORD will lighten my darkness.” 2 Samuel 2:29
“The deep things of God.” 1 Corinthians 2:10C’mon! Have you made up your mind yet!?
The Lord knew that we would become convinced of the truths in his word but not necessarily converted to its liberating state in our being. This “conversion” is what the Lord spoke to Peter of in Luke 22:31-34. The Apostle Peter was chosen by the Lord, walked with the Lord and witnessed the first hand testimony of the Lord, and was wholly convinced that he was the Son of God! But until the battle of his mind was won, he was not yet free! Allow me to summarize what that means. Many of us know Isaiah 53:5 and 1 Peter 2:24 and associate these verses with mainly physical healing. We are convinced of that truth! But will we allow the deep converting power of these verses into the secret parts of our hearts and minds to heal the hurt, confusion, chaos and mental abuse as well as in our sinful character and actions? Only the Lord and YOU know where the hidden iniquity (that sinful character) and transgression are in YOUR life! God is willing to heal that part of your heart and convert those areas of your mind that are convinced of his truths but yet remain bound! St. John 8:32-36 indicates a conversion that occurs from “servant” (as referred to in Romans 6:16 and St. John 8:34) to “childhood adoption” (as spoken of in Romans 8:15 and Galatians 4:6). Sin binds your ability to enjoy the freedom of God’s liberating word. Romans 8:6 tells us that there are only two mind sets, carnal and spiritual. They are reflected through many states of mind. The scripture ultimately describes the scope and extent of the battle in the mind in Ephesians 6:12 and 2 Corinthians 10:3-5. Satan knows that if he can control your mind he has won the battle! The conversion of the truths of God you are convinced of is that entire healing of body, soul and mind.
The healing of the body is easily understood. However, the healing of the heart, soul and mind is much more complex. In this article, we will focus briefly on the mind only. For the record, let it be known that I am not a Psychologist, nor do I hold any degree in that area. All of the knowledge spoken of here is straight from the Word of God as he has revealed it to me through observation interpreted in spiritual revelation, as is confirmed in 1 John 2:27. Through scripture, Deuteronomy 4:9, 1 Chronicles 22:19 and Proverbs 23:7, we see that the state of your mind reflects the condition of, as well as what lies in the heart and the soundness of the soul. The mind is the interpretive filter of the heart. God gives testimony of this truth in Hebrews 8:10. The mind is precognitive to words and deeds, that is to say that what you think often formulates what you’ll say and do. Contemplate the operative truth of Mark 7:18-20. The mind either contains or lacks the ability to “filter out” the things that defile a man! Perceiving its state is a tell tale sign of its ability to accomplish one or the other! So then, I can’t help but wonder if you know what YOUR true state of mind is and why its that way….Those who do understand these truths, understand that your mind is where most of the spiritual battle takes place in your life!
in order for your mind to be healed, you must comprehend its various states and how they operate. Carefully consider the scriptural spectrum of the various states of mind indicated from that which is against God to that which is most desired of Him. We will scrutinize those states of mind that are against God first. There is a wicked mind mentioned in Proverbs 21:27, it is sinister and reflects all that is against the Lord. The reprobate mind spoken of in Romans 1:21-32 is that mindset that rejects the knowledge of God in its operation. The despiteful mind in Ezekiel 36:4-6 intends to cause a stumbling block to those who walk in the path of righteousness. The carnal mind referred to in Romans 8:7 caters to the flesh FIRST and is an unregenerate mind is alive in the natural, not having yet been crucified on that cross we must bear daily. The blinded mind in 2 Corinthians 4:4 is that mind set that lacks Spiritual perception, insight and leading. The corrupted mind in 1 Timothy 6:5 is a mind that has a “skewed”, warped , even perverted perception of godliness. The vain mind in Ephesians 4:17 is all about ego, self-centeredness and outward beauty and acceptance. The fleshly mind in Colossians 2:18 is the mind that relies heavily on emotion, the five senses and seeing in order to believe. A double mind as spoken of in James 1:7-9 changes according to circumstance, environment and who the players are. That which is against God is the dark side of our states of mind. We must know how and desire to maintain his marvelous light in our state of mind!
The Lord will lighten our darkness as we meditate on those states of mind he desires for us to be in! A right mind in Luke 8:35 is teachable, relatively level and balanced. A sound mind in 2 Timothy 1:7 regularly exercises the ways of righteousness in thought word and deed. Lowliness of mind in Philippians 2:3 is meek in spirit, constantly docile in righteousness. Humility of mind in Acts 20:19 plainly lacks a “holier than thou” attitude. It is humble, easy to entreat and chaste in its operation. A willing mind 1 Chronicles 28:9 is inclined to righteousness and the will of God. A ready mind in 1 Peter 5:2 is prepared to receive, process and produce that which God intends. A pure mind as spoken in 2 Peter 3:1 is the godly balance of perspective, manner and mode of operation. A fervent mind in 2 Corinthians 7:7 perseveres in righteousness! Is holy boldness! And is that “fire in the bones” that must be let out! And finally, the mind of Christ as spoken of in Philippians 2:5 & 4:8, That final conversion of your will to God’s will! His way of interpretation, verbal communication and actualization! Do you see yourself in any part of this mirror? You must be convinced of what the Lord converts in you! Go ahead, let the son make YOU free, and be free INDEED!
