“Earnestly contend for the faith!…” St. Jude 1:3
Shout out to… My Brethren who are ready to fight!!
Lately I’m thinking… Are we really prepared to “earnestly contend for the faith?”
Currently reading… Jude 1:3
This is really interesting… Are you ready to be a competitive rival and defeat the enemy?
The soapbox: The Apostle Jude gave us quite a challenge and perspective of the fight we actually face! By using the word “contend” he actually kicked up the circumstances of the fight a few notches! A contender is a challeger! One who wants to fight because he feels that he can actually win the fight! I’m here to tell you that the battle is already won! We win! Satan knows it! He hates us for it! And there is nothing he can do about it! He is trying to get us to be distracted from the facts of the ensueing battle and get caught up in the appearance of the details! But thank God for the promise of Romans 8:28! I don’t have to be concerned with his manipulation of the details as long as I genuinely love the Lord Jesus Christ! Thats how we win the fight!
However, we must be ready to fight! I read an African proverb about the Gazelle and the Lion, It said, “When the sun comes up,the gazelle wakes up knowing that it must out run the fastest lion or it will be eaten. The lion knows it must out run the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death. So it doesn’t matter if you are gazelle or a lion, when the sun comes up, you had better be running!” The interpretation I got was this… “When a new day is given to a Saint of God, that Saint must know that the battles is on, and that he must be stronger than the strongest demon or he’ll be defeated! The demons, even Satan himself knows that if he is not stronger than the weakest Saint then he will not win the fight that day! So when the sun comes up, you better be ready to fight!” Know where your battles are! Remember 2 Corinthians 12:10 “for when I am weak, then am I strong.” Satan! Get where you belong! Under my feet! “David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.” 1 Samuel 30:6
Shout out to… All those who are in the struggle!
Lately I’m thinking… What do you do in those moments when there is no preaching or Preacher or joy of the Lord?
Currently reading… 1 Samuel 30:6
This is really interesting… Beloved encourage yourself in the LORD your God!
The soapbox: David knew the pain of great loss and to have others suffer with him! Here in this passage we see David’s inner strength His relationship with God gave him knowledge of what to do when circumstances become uncontrollable and stress ridden! He understood that prayer is a two way communication thing. Remember the five steps of approaching God the Lord Jesus Christ spoke of in the Lord’s prayer found in Matthew 6:7-15? Praise and worship, requests, confession, intercession ending with praise and worship. David knew that his part in encouragement from God was to meditate on God’s word and His promises following his prayer to completely “hear” from God. He applied Romans 10:17. He knew how to use the word of God to encourage himself in the Lord! He understood that the promises of God were greater than his present situation, and that God would work out that which needed to be resolved for his honor and glory, and that he mustn’t let the circumstances change him for the worst, but change his perception of the circumstances for the better, as is spoken of in Romans 8:28-39! He trusted in God!! When the hot waters of life fill our cup, lets make the tea of encouragement for others to drink! Pastor Greg
