Will you now!? Maybe you won’t!

Have you ever felt like your “want-to-er” needs a little adjusting? You know, when you are always wanting something. almost to the point of obsessing over it! I mean, you find yourself having to get over that frustration of always wanting something but never being able to have it when you want, the way you like it or have it go your way. Or maybe you are just “strong willed”, and you know what kind of trouble that has caused you! Especially in your relationship with God! I know you know the verse, “not my will, but thine be done.” (Luke 22:42.  But are you really being careful in knowing the will of God!? The quickest, surest off the cuff way to tell is by considering just how much you involve God in your daily decisions. There is indeed a scriptural mind set and remedy for accomplishing this. Lets examine a little piece of it found in Romans 12:1 & 2. Here we find one of those passages that say so much in such few words! Yep! Anything less than a body that is presented to him as a living sacrifice is just not acceptable to God! Oh! And he wants that body holy, which he considers our reasonable service to him! What is the proper way to accomplish this transformation? By renewing our minds so that he might give you the ability to prove that good, acceptable and perfect will of God!

The order is; presenting ourselves as a living sacrifice, renewing our minds, then, proving what the will of God is, so that you can have a deep meaningful relationship with God! You must renew your mind to the point of placing YOUR will in subjection to God’s will in your daily decisions.  When making a daily decision, consider the frame of mind of our Lord Jesus. According to Luke 22:42, even unto death Jesus was willing to allow God’s will over His own. Jesus gave us the example in the scriptures. In the kingdom of God, it’s not what you know, it’s whose will you are in subjection to! Because Christ was our example, we too then must desire to know God’s will for our own daily decisions! Choosing to do God’s will is something that we must do on a daily basis.  EVERYDAY. So then, if we don’t allow God’s will to come to pass in our lives, we are disobeying him. Unwillingness to do God’s will is the same as disobedience to His word, as that’s where we find his will. I Timothy 1:8-10 tells us how God views those who disobey His word. The greater purpose of God’s will accomplished in our lives is for his honor and glory as well as our benefit. If it were left up to us to do our own thing there would be a lot of sadness and suffering because man’s heart is corrupt Genesis 6:5-7.

Yes, I am hinting at the fact that God requires a complete mind change in the way we make decisions and live our lives for Him. After all the word of God says that :”ye are bought with a price, therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” in 1 Corinthians 6:20. So we must become sensitive and make his will a priority in our lives! These 7 areas of consideration should direct you in the right path. 1) What is God’s design for it? Why did he create it? What is his purpose for it? 2) What is your responsibility? What are your true motives? What does your conscience tell you? How will others be affected? Do you have all of the facts? 3) Whose authority are you under? Does scripture directly forbid it? Does God give testimony against it? What do my parents say? Does it violate the law? Does it violate church teaching? Is my employer against it? 4) What suffering will be involved? What are God’s limitations? How will Satan oppose this? Am you prepared to stand alone? 5) Whose ownership is at stake? Have you yielded your rights? Am I being a good steward? 6) will moral freedom result? Will it defraud? Does it avoid an appearance of evil? Does it edify? 7) Will it bring honor and glory to God? Will it bring true success? How will it advance the kingdom of God? Will it build maturity? By coming up with a scriptural answer to all of the questions that apply to your decision, you will properly discern the will of God! The ultimate question is Will you now!? Maybe you won’t! Where is your head at in this? leave me a comment!

Just learning to love Him more!

Hebrews 13:8 reads: “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”
Thank you Jesus for being the same yesterday, today and forever! His love, knowledge, grace, mercy and longsuffering towards us never changes! In circumstance, environment, emotional scenario and financial pressures to say the least! we change! Through out our lives many things are prone to change. Even we are “wired” for change! It is a commonly known medical fact that our metabolisms and tastes change every seven years. Think about it, isn’t it true that some of the things you hated when you were little you are OK with now? Conversely, some of the things you liked when you were little, you just don’t care for now? These are indisputable signs God has given us that we will grow through changes in our lives! God, in all His infinite knowledge, knows that we need to be able to “change” as we develop our “limited” knowledge of who he is and how great his presence and power really is in our lives! As we recognize the deeper truths of God and how we must let them become part of who we are, we will find ourselves growing through more changes that must be for God’s perfect will to be more evident in our lives! The Apostle John said it accurately in St. John 3:30 when he spoke ” He must increase, but I must decrease!” in response to his disciples questioning him about following Jesus instead if him. What John spoke here is the simple truth that when we recognize, have remorse for and reject (that is to say repent) of sinful character (which is iniquity) then we are performing the process he just spoke of! Even John knew that we must change to enjoy a fuller experience of our God who doesn’t change!
We are the ones who must learn how to remove the conditions of our obedience to Him! We are the ones who must be able to recognize, show remorse and reject (which is repentance) the sin that so easily separates us from our Lord whom we say we love! We are the ones who must learn how to bring every thought into the captivity and subjection of the Lord Jesus Christ! He has done what he has done for us, and promised what he has to us, and given what he has gave to us “without repentance”! We must learn how to maneuver through life to secure and enjoy the fullness of what God has done for us! Accept the change that must come to pass as God reveals his will to us!
